Showers over mountains, weal and woe is poured in

Breathing, swallow ironstone and spit silt

Followed by sails and waterfowl stretching

Slowly yet rigorously, perceptions and emotions are forming

Can hear thunder rumbling

Can feel summer approaching

Flow down the highlands across the Taihang Mountain

Noon breaks on the plain, fish jump over the setting sun

Lift your sailboat if tomorrow’s admirable

Let the tide run its course if future’s unfathomable

Can hear thunder rumbling

Can feel the unknown coming

Unbidden guests, penniless

Work, drink, sigh

Sleep on the riverbed, dew as pillow

Mapping and blasting

Reinforce the illusion of civilization

Reshaping mountains and rivers for reservoir

Sediment deposition, movement on pause

Waterfowl disappear

Artificial lake shines no more

Can hear thunder rumbling

Can feel danger arriving

Dark clouds converging, dark clouds rolling in

A muddy river regenerated to wash out the dam

Can feel raging tide closing in

2. 《采石》 (Quarrying)

Exploring the blaze of my flesh and blood

Launching the bubble of the advanced new world

Unrest the thunder mingles with the explosion

Never shall I return

A thump on my inherited reticence

A cut on my confusion and lowliness

Rusty face hazy future

On the mountain pass, my soul looks back

All brand new

Rising and vanishing like a star

But I can’t see with clouds over my heart

3.  《山雀》 (Titmouse)

Nature gives you

Canopy, breeze and storm on your shoulders

Results in

A balanced, loyal and resilient body

Eat and drink

Early morning, white clouds rest on the forehead

Hop and roam

Late night, cool breeze from Bohai Sea strokes the crown

The spirit of the rosy dawn

A nimble bright and warm company

She thrives beside you

Fight against the same destiny

Love and pain

The road doesn’t seem endless

4. 《河北墨麒麟》 (Dark Qilin of Hebei)

Listen to the thunder roll

Lip pursed

Stop singing about twilight and longing

He’s serious and perilous at the time

Chest congested

Dark clouds hinder the moon over the river bend

He rises to the wasteland on his own
