“今天是我們偉大的中國(guó)共產(chǎn)黨誕生四十周年紀(jì)念日……是黨給了我無產(chǎn)階級(jí)思想，是黨把我從火坑中拯救出來。我的母親是一個(gè)勤勞的農(nóng)民，但她無法養(yǎng)活我，是黨給了我吃的穿的，送我讀書，培養(yǎng)我戴上了紅領(lǐng)巾，加入了共青團(tuán)，參加了偉大的工人階級(jí)隊(duì)伍。我的一切都是黨給的，光榮應(yīng)該歸于黨……我要永遠(yuǎn)聽黨的話，為共產(chǎn)主義事業(yè)奮斗到底！”出處：《雷鋒日記》1961年7月7日

英文譯文：

“Today marks the 40th anniversary of the birth of our great Communist Party of China... It was the Party that has instilled in me the ideals of the proletariat, and it was the Party that has rescued me from the trough of suffering. Though my mother was a hardworking peasant, she couldn’t provide for me. It was the Party that gave me food and clothing, supported and cultivated me in study, nurtured me to join the Communist Youth League, and become a member of the great working class. Everything I have is given by the Party, and the glory should belong to the Party... August 9, 1962

Today, I read a scientist’s address to young people, which was deeply enlightening and educational for me. He said: “At no time should you think +that you know everything. No matter how highly others regard you, you must have the courage to tell yourself: ‘I am not knowledgeable.’ Never fall into pride. Once pride sets in, you will become stubborn; once pride sets in, you will reject others’ sincere advice and the help of friendship; once pride sets in, you will lose the objective standards of truth.”

These words are excellent. Not only must I remember them forever, but I must also integrate them into my words and actions.

“有些人說工作忙，沒時(shí)間學(xué)習(xí)。我認(rèn)為問題不在工作忙，而在于你愿不愿意學(xué)習(xí)，會(huì)不會(huì)擠時(shí)間。要學(xué)習(xí)的時(shí)間是有的，問題是我們善不善于擠，愿不愿意鉆。一塊好好的木板，上面一個(gè)眼也沒有，但釘子為什么能釘進(jìn)去呢？這就是靠壓力硬擠進(jìn)去的，硬鉆進(jìn)去的。由此看來，釘子有兩個(gè)長(zhǎng)處：一個(gè)是擠勁，一個(gè)是鉆勁。我們?cè)趯W(xué)習(xí)上，也要提倡這種'釘子'精神，善于擠和善于鉆。”

“Some people say that they are too busy with work to find time to study. I believe the issue is not about being busy with work, but rather whether you are willing to learn and whether you know how to squeeze time for it. There is always time to study; the real question is whether we are good at making the most of it and whether we are willing to put in the effort. How can a nail pierce through a flawless wooden board without a single hole? It’s driven by relentless pressure and an unyielding force that pushes through. From this perspective, a nail possesses two strengths: one is its ability to squeeze in, and the other is its tenacity to drill through. In our studies, we should also advocate this ‘nail spirit’ –being adept at both ‘squeezing’ and ‘drilling’.”
